There’s also a new visual, which features Naofumi on a throne and the tagline “Revered yet w(e)ary,” and a couple of new cast announcements. The latter are Takeo Otsuka as the Shusaku representative Werner and Jiro Saito as the Lio representative Jaralis; both of their characters can be seen flanking Naofumi in the visual.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 was announced in January 2024, after the third season aired during the Fall 2023 anime season. Season 1 and 2 aired in 2019 and 2022, respectively. The anime is based on the MF Books light novel series written by Yusagi Aneko and illustrated by Seira Minami.
The Rising of the Shield Hero started as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2012. The light novel series debuted in August 2013 and has 22 volumes as of June 2019. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation and spin-offs.
