Netflix has released a new main trailer for the upcoming second cour of Sakamoto Days TV anime series, which confirmed a July 14, 2025 premiere date and a new opening theme. The anime’s first cour ended with its 11th episode on March 22, 2025 after debuting on January 11, 2025.
The new opening theme song highlighted in the English-subbed trailer is “Method” by Japanese rock band Kroi. Masaki Watanabe (Bakumatsu, Battle Spirits: Mirage) is directing the anime, with Taku Kishimoto (Blue Lock) as series screenwriter, Yo Moriyama (Megalo Box director and co-sub character designer et al.) as character designer, and Yuki Hayashi (Haikyu!!, My Hero Academia) as music composer. TMS Entertainment is in charge of the animation production.
Netflix is streaming Sakamoto Days worldwide, outside of Japan, on a weekly release schedule. The anime is based on the manga series by Yuto Suzuki, which began in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on November 21, 2020 and has released 21 tankobon volumes as of March 2025. A 22nd volume will be released on June 4, 2025.
Besides the manga, the series has also inspired a novel adaptation in April 2023 and a spinoff manga in July 2024. Another spinoff novel was also released on December 2024.
Synopsis:
