Devil May Cry Animated Series Debuts

Devil May Cry Animated Series Debuts

Netflix’s upcoming Devil May Cry animated series has debuted its first main visual, featuring the protagonist Dante and his signature sword. The visual also confirms that the show will premiere on the streaming service on April 3, 2025 and consist of eight total episodes.

Netflix also released the main opening sequence for Devil May Cry last month, which uses the song “Rollin’” by American rock band Limp Bizkit. Studio Mir is the animation production company for the series.

Johnny Yong Bosch is voicing the series’ protagonist, Dante, in the new animated series. He previously voiced the character Nero in the video games Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 5.

Devil May Cry is inspired by CAPCOM’s popular hack-and-slash game series of the same name. The animation’s showrunner, executive producer, creator Adi Shankar (Castlevania executive producer) told IGN in 2018 that it “will join Castlevania in what we’re now calling the bootleg multiverse.”

The first Devil May Cry video game was originally released in 2001 as a PS2 title (it has since been ported to other platforms). The most recent entry was 2019’s Devil May Cry 5, which was released on the PS4, Xbox One, and Steam (a Special Edition was later released for current-gen consoles in 2020). In addition to the numbered entries, a reboot by Ninja Theory was released in 2013.
